COVID-19: Coronavirus Information

Overview

As government has taken steps to mitigate the spread of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) APEC Schools has, in response, made precautionary measures and explored alternative class set up to continually protect and serve its stakeholders.

The Philippines had its first reported case on January 30, 2020. Since then, the numbers continued to rise. Local transmission was reported early of March 2020 which made the Department of Health raise the Code Red Sub-Level 1. Because of the heightened alert level, and with the alarming rise in number of cases since January, the Philippines was put under State of Public Health Emergency as declared by President Rodrigo Duterte.

Partial lockdown was declared. Land, domestic air, and domestic sea travel to and from Metro Manila were suspended. On March 17, Enhanced Community Quarantine was declared for the entire island region of Luzon. Among the private firms, entertainment industry, religious sectors, and other affected industries, operations of educational institutions were suspended.

APEC Schools adheres to the mandates of the government in response to this health emergency. As early as January 2020, precautionary measures were put in place in our sites across Metro Manila and Calabarzon by implementing stringent and consistent sanitation and disinfection of all campus. Students were likewise advised to habitually wash their hands and temperatures were regularly checked. Moreover, information via posters about the virus’ description and precautionary measures were disseminated in the campus. Lastly services of KonsultaMD, an on-the-line doctor consultation were also exclusively offered to APEC Schools students and staff, are shared to provide alternative options.

When community quarantine was declared and school operations was suspended, APEC Schools activated its Online Classroom to continually serve its students in the safety of their own homes.

Online Classes

When the community quarantine was announced and the Department of Education declared suspension of classes, we at APEC Schools identified options that will ensure our students can continue their education without compromising their safety. As a result, we implemented the Online Classroom on March 16 until further notice.

Here is the official statement regarding the Online Classroom.
