Junior High School
Here at APEC Schools, we have a special subject we call Lifelabs. It is a term-long subject wherein our students go out into the community, identify a problem, then work to create a solution.
This subject is also a culmination of all other skills and values they have learned with us. They are able to apply everything they have learned through this project.
We train our students to think, imagine, create, discover, and change through the Lifelabs subject. Because we want our students to become more than students.
All our schools have an English immersive environment. This is because we want our students to be able to master English and speak it confidently. The best way to do this is through repetition and practice.
We encourage our students to speak English at all times, to be able to practice it daily and in normal conversation, instead of only learning it during certain subjects.
We believe English is one of the most important skills needed in today's world. Not only will it help our students find good work right after SHS, but English will also help them excel in college.
Here at APEC, the teacher is not the star, but the student. Instead of the teacher standing in front of the class, conducting a lecture the traditional way, we encourage our students to be able to learn and develop with their classmates.
This is why we do not call our teachers as such, but instead we call them learning facilitators. It is their job to facilitate the learning of the student.
We also have a lot of group works as we encourage collaborative learning.
Lastly, we don't just focus on academics - we develop a growth mindset, or the belief that every individual has the power to improve if they are willing to learn. We seek to develop character, values and skills in addition to the core knowledge that other schools do.
